Member message from Enrique Gastelum regarding Farmworker Awareness Week
We all know your employees are instrumental in helping make sure you can feed the world. Their work to help plant, grow, and harvest fresh fruits, vegetables, and other commodities is an essential part of your operations, and your work could only be accomplished with their help.
This week is Farmworker Awareness Week across our great nation. We take this week to recognize that farmworker hands touch every vegetable and piece of fruit that makes its way into our food supply system. We thank them for their hard work and recognize them as a vital part of meeting our labor needs.
Coming from a farmworker family gives me the pride and perspective to help lead wafla and represent the interests of both farmers and farmworkers. I understand that our labor-intensive agricultural community's work could not be accomplished without a productive and positive relationship between both. This is why we put so much effort into supporting that relationship.
As we celebrate the work our farmworkers do across this great nation to help us maintain our food supply system, I encourage you to take a moment to recognize your team's hard work and dedication. Do a little something beyond signing their paycheck. It is incredible how far a thank you and some recognition can go with your farmworkers, who are an instrumental part of your business and value.
Warmest regards,
Enrique
